• Starting at Pentecost this year, I’d like to encourage as many members of St. John’s as possible to join me in the E100 reading program. E100 is 100 passages from the Bible, 50 from the Old Testament and 50 from the New, which give a broad overview of the scriptures as a whole. They are divided into 20 weeks of five readings, which, with a couple of holiday weeks to allow people to catch up, will take us through most of the way to Lent! (...more...)

  • You might have seen our own Amanda featured in this month’s insights, talking about Lay Ministry training. The Living is Giving website has another part of the same interview, in which Amanda was asked about her work with kids. Read it on the Living is Giving website!

Bring and Share

Once a month, normally on the second Sunday, we meet for a casual shared meal at 6:30pm. Bring along a plate of food to share, meet old and new friends, and listen to an interesting and informative talk from someone from within or beyond our community.

Bring and Share restarts for 2011 in March; this year we’ll be meeting on the second Sunday of the month, so that’s March 13th at 6:30pm. John and Maureen will be speaking about their work with the infirm and with dementia patients at Uniting Care. Come along and hear about the important, though unglamorous, work that the Uniting Church carries out amongst some of the most needy members of our community.

Open Door Launch! Open Door is the new name for our four evening celebrations – Sacred Space, Jazz Cafe, Bring and Share and Alt. Worship. On the evening of Sunday September 26th, from 6:30pm – 8:00pm. we’ll be having a launch, in which you can get a taster of all four – listen to some quality jazz, wander through sacred space, share a meal together with a speaker, and explore an alternative approach to worship.

We’d love to see as many of the St. John’s community there as possible – and it’s a great chance to bring some friends to share good music, good food, good conversation, with a healthy dash of spirituality for good measure.
