• You might have seen our own Amanda featured in this month’s insights, talking about Lay Ministry training. The Living is Giving website has another part of the same interview, in which Amanda was asked about her work with kids. Read it on the Living is Giving website!

  • Starting at Pentecost this year, I’d like to encourage as many members of St. John’s as possible to join me in the E100 reading program. E100 is 100 passages from the Bible, 50 from the Old Testament and 50 from the New, which give a broad overview of the scriptures as a whole. They are divided into 20 weeks of five readings, which, with a couple of holiday weeks to allow people to catch up, will take us through most of the way to Lent! (...more...)

Choir

St Johns has a long tradition of music, and the St Johns Choir is a key part of that tradition.

The choir contributes to worship every Sunday morning, except for a recess during January. It was one of the inaugural choirs in the annual North Shore Choral Festival, and for several years has performed as part of the massed choirs in the Sydney Town Hall Christmas concert. The choir’s repertoire spans plain chant, baroque and traditional choral anthems, negro sprituals and contemporary works.

The St Johns Choir is always eager to accept new members. There are no auditions necessary. It offers singers the opportunity to develop their music under our musical director, Christopher Bowen, as well as forming lasting friendships in a fun and informal environment. Music is a great socialising implement, which can bond people together irrespective of their views on other issues.
