• ‘Nicodemus’ is an Australian musical, produced and co-written by Matthew Adams, which provides an opportunity for our local church community to invite friends and family to a Gospel event that is not only entertaining and immensely enjoyable, but which also gives the opportunity for discussion afterwards. The musical will be presented in Belrose between March 21 and March 31, 2012. For more information, see www.stmattsweb.org.au/nicodemus.

  • I really can’t recommend The Turramurra Passion Play highly enough. The Play is an interactive and slightly modern interpretation of the Easter story, performed in and around the grounds of Turramurra Uniting Church. Based primarily on Luke’s Gospel from The Message translation, the play was first performed in 1999, and has developed over the following years. There are seven performances, from 23 March to 4 April. It’s free, but bookings are essential. Check out www.turramurrapassion.org.au for full details and to book.

Sacred Space

Sacred Space is Church with an open door. It is a place without sermons or hymns, but a place where God is acknowledged to be present. You are welcome to wander through, to sit, to pray, or to spend time at one of the interactive stations, which help you to think deeply, prayerfully and meaningfully about God, yourself, and the world we live in. Sacred Space is an open, welcoming environment, where you can come and go as you please, and engage with the activities on offer. It is a place to pause on the journey, or to rediscover God in your life.

Sacred Space is open between 6 and 9pm on the second Sunday of every month.

Open Door Launch! Open Door is the new name for our four evening celebrations – Sacred Space, Jazz Cafe, Bring and Share and Alt. Worship. On the evening of Sunday September 26th, from 6:30pm – 8:00pm. we’ll be having a launch, in which you can get a taster of all four – listen to some quality jazz, wander through sacred space, share a meal together with a speaker, and explore an alternative approach to worship.

We’d love to see as many of the St. John’s community there as possible – and it’s a great chance to bring some friends to share good music, good food, good conversation, with a healthy dash of spirituality for good measure.
